I have tried all the relevant precompiled kernels from http://snapshot.debian.org/package/linux/
the last one working is: linux-image-3.10-3-amd64 (3.10.11-1) the next available on the snapshot directory is: linux-image-3.11-1-amd64 (3.11.6-2) which fails with the same symptom as the jessie kernel. I am not sure what else I can do to help debug the issue. I would really appreciate if anyone could suggest any further debugging steps. thanks ----- Original Message ----- From: Gabriele Gorla <gor...@yahoo.com> To: Ben Hutchings <b...@decadent.org.uk> Cc: "789...@bugs.debian.org" <789...@bugs.debian.org> Sent: Wednesday, June 24, 2015 11:33 AM Subject: Re: Bug#789448: linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64: Arima NM46X (NVIDIA MCP55) hangs early on boot I tried several precompiled kernels from http://snapshot.debian.org/package/linux/ linux-image-3.10-3-amd64 worked fine contrary to what previously reported (I probably did not compile the sources correctly last time). I am going to try a few more precompiled kernels between 3.10 and 3.16 to try to narrow down when things stopped working. (I also tried linux-image-4.0.0-2-amd64 and did not work) thanks ________________________________ From: Ben Hutchings <b...@decadent.org.uk> To: Gabriele Gorla <gor...@yahoo.com> Cc: 789...@bugs.debian.org Sent: Sunday, June 21, 2015 3:20 PM Subject: Re: Bug#789448: linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64: Arima NM46X (NVIDIA MCP55) hangs early on boot On Sun, 2015-06-21 at 14:56 -0700, Gabriele Gorla wrote: > Thanks for the quick reply. > > Adding nomodeset has no effect on the failure (the log in the attached > screenshot is the same as before) OK, then this probably isn't a bug in the graphics driver, which was my first thought. > I also tried to compile a few long term support vanilla kernels from > kernel.org > The last one that I could make work was 3.4.108 > Kernel 3.10.80, 3.12.44 and 3.14.44 all fail to boot (in a different way than > described in this bug though) > I have not tried anything between 3.4.108 and 3.10.80 There are more versions available at <http://snapshot.debian.org/package/linux/>.
