This issue is not fixed AFAIK, and in fact still manifest itself on the latest binary build (1:1.2.8-4) for jessie and sid. The patch to incorporate a -e option to rpc-gssd as mentioned by John Hughes was actually a reasonable workaround, but it was not incorporated. The Ubuntu package maintainers has the patch mainlined since quantal - here's the writeup.
