Package: linux Version: 3.2.41-2+deb7u2 Severity: important (filing important as requested by bwh on debian-kernel@l.d.o)
I am the proud owner of a new Supermicro server mainboard that uses an LGA1150 socket and supports the new Intel Haswell CPUs that just started shipping at the beginning of June. The board has two built-in gigabit ethernet NICs. Here are their lspci lines: 00:19.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Intel Corporation Ethernet Connection I217-LM [8086:153a] (rev 04) 03:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Intel Corporation I210 Gigabit Network Connection [8086:1533] (rev 03) Upon loading the igb driver does not claim them (and likely doesn't have what's needed to support them anyway). Support for them appears to be added in: commit 2fbe4526e5aafc9ffa5d85fa4749a7c5b22af6b2 commit f96a8a0b78548c0ec06b0b4b438db6ee895d67e9 Please consider backporting support for these devices to stable. I expect we'll see a lot more of them hitting the streets soon and having them in stable (and eventually d-i) will be very helpful. This request was originally sent to sta...@vger.kernel.org but GregKH pushed back on having it in stable and bwh recommended filing this bug to see what could be done in Debian. http://lists.debian.org/debian-kernel/2013/06/msg01117.html (thanks to KiBi for tracking down the commits) Thanks, -- Matt Taggart tagg...@debian.org -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-kernel-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
