But how do you know this is a firmware bug, not a driver bug? You don't. How would we fix a bug in sourceless firmware? We can't. How do we contact the upstream developers? We have no idea who they are, really. Our only contact is through the driver developers. So if you have a bug that might be in firmware or a driver it should always be assigned first to the driver (i.e. src:linux).
