I'm satisfied that this is not a bug because I tried modprobe -r i915 modprobe i915 modeset=1 this resulted in a high res terminal which proves that the framebuffer does work. starting xorg after that causes the system to hang but I think that this is a known issue and can be configured around. In any case wheezy works fine so I'm happy and suggest closing. thanks, Philip -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-kernel-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
