In particular, if I understand correctly then you specifically ruled out the cause of bug#680737 by checking that increasing the backlight does not restore the screen image. My response about LVDS versus S-Video was silly --- I should have read more carefully. But all too often bug reporters pile on reporting distinct problems (sometimes with identical symptoms!) to the same report and it becomes very, very difficult to untangle them and solve them all. When it comes to hardware-specific bugs, I speak from experience in saying that when the preferred practice is to err on the side of filing a separate report there is a good reason for that. </rant> Of course all that is less important than the crucial thing: thanks for testing and reporting your findings!
