Interesting. Do you happen to have "acpidump" output from before or after the BIOS upgrade? If we want to solve this so users do not need to know about the BIOS upgrade in order to use Linux, it will be very useful to see both. One can get acpidump output by simply installing the acpidump package and running the "acpidump" command as root.
