The problem has just occurred again: the keyboard no longer works from X. But it still works in a VT. If I run /lib/udev/keymap -i input/event1 from an xterm, the keyboard works for this command (but no longer once I terminate it). If I quit the X session, a new X session is started by gdm3, and the keyboard also works from this new X session.
