Package: initramfs-tools
Version: 0.101
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
Recently the thinkpad_acpi module ceased to load automatically during
boot. After further testing, it appears that the module will load
automatically only if it is included in the initramfs (by listing it and
dependent modules in /etc/initramfs-tools/modules). It was suggested[1]
that this indicates a bug in initramfs-tools with the handoff from
initramfs to the main system.
I purged the initramfs-tools package and installed version 0.98.8 from
stable, but the same symptoms remained. Note that it is a bit
intermittent, but fails to load thinkpad_acpi ~90% of the time, so there
may be a race condition present.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to troubleshoot this
further.
Thanks,
Kevin

thanks for your quick feed back!
indeed the possible cause is the custom linux configuration,
as I can't reproduce it or some hardware trouble of that box.
as no longer reproducible closing.
