Thank you; I didn't realize this had already been fixed upstream. stable/linux-3.2.y was v3.2.13 = 02905906ddc049720ded93ded03bbc2652f4646a. That version has the bug; acer-wmi blocks WLAN on my VAIO as reported. Cherry-picking 5719b81988f3c24ff694dc3a37e35b35630a3966 fixes it. I deviated from your instructions by not using -s in git cherry-pick.
