I've marked this bug as affecting pulseaudio. In fact, it seems (to me) sufficient to get version 2.0 of pulseaudio into Debian to solve this bug. With convenience and user-friendliness in mind, I feel that the jack detection backport from kernel 3.3 to the Debian 3.2 kernel should be done.
