Sadly, my dpkg.log only goes back to 3.0, which was installed last July (!). I could try installing e.g. 2.6.32 from snapshot.debian.org if other things don't help. The first thing that happens is that the NetworkManager applet seems to be trying to reconnect to the wireless. The log seems pretty quiet beforehand.
