Please report this upstream using bugzilla.kernel.org, product Drivers, component Sound (ALSA), as described in my last message, and let us know the bug number so we can track it. Simple reproduction recipe that does not involve pulseaudio: run "alsamixer -c0" and check if the "mute" knob has gone missing. Sorry for the confusion.
