Next step would have been to report this upstream.

Alas, a lot of time has passed since then.  Please try a 3.2.y
kernel from sid, and if it also does not support your device,
contact linux-...@vger.kernel.org, cc-ing Jiri Kosina
<jkos...@suse.cz> and either me or this bug log so we can track it.

Hopefully someone upstream can give advice for figuring out what
protocol the device uses, etc.
