No, and I've even plenty physical RAM free (my machine has 4 GB memory and I use less than 2 GB), and htop says about 76 over 9695 MB swap used. > Does dmesg say anything interest when this happens? No, the only dmesg messages I get after the boot are dell_wmi: Received unknown WMI event (0x11) and according to /var/log/kern.log, then don't occur at the same time. > Does alt-sysrq + t (after echo-ing 1 to /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq to > avoid the paranoid check) say anything interesting? When the problem occurs, the mouse can still move and I can switch the desktop with the window manager (fvwm). But applications like xterm and iceweasel are frozen (e.g. typing in xterm has no effect until the disk is no longer accessed). -- Vincent Lefèvre <vinc...@vinc17.net> - Web: <http://www.vinc17.net/> 100% accessible validated (X)HTML - Blog: <http://www.vinc17.net/blog/> Work: CR INRIA - computer arithmetic / Arénaire project (LIP, ENS-Lyon) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-kernel-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
