Sadly, I am going on vacations in a few hours. So I will not be able
to try this for a couple of weeks. I'll do it as soon as I get back.

For now, I am using this as a workaround that prevents the crashes:

$ cat /etc/pm/config.d/ath9k
SUSPEND_MODULES="${SUSPEND_MODULES} ath9k"
