Quick questions: - when you say "kernel 2.6.32-5", I assume you mean the package linux-image-2.6.32-5-686 or linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64. What version did you use? (The number after the dash should be around 30; you can get it with "dpkg -l 'linux-image-*'". - same question for 2.6.38. - could you send a photo of the screen during the oops, so we can read the backtrace? - could you send the full output of "dmesg" after booting with a working version?
