Sorry for a lack of clarification, the kernel was not one of the updates.  The 
issue was resolved by other package updates - I can look back at the update 
history near 5/28/11 and roll back some to try and reproduce it to zero in on 
what the root cause and solution was, but I would rather forego this unless 
this was deemed important.  Thanks for your responsiveness and contribution.
