Package: linux-2.6 Version: 2.6.32-29 Severity: important
OK, grub2, can't boot with squeeze's 2.6 amd64. This machine is on openhosting.com, which significantly limits my ability to get screenshots, but I'll try to attach one in my next message. Here are my kernel packages: oh-www1% sudo dpkg -l | grep -i linux-imag ii linux-image-2.6-amd64 2.6.32+28 Linux 2.6 for 64-bit PCs (meta-package) ii linux-image-2.6.26-2-amd64 2.6.26-25 Linux 2.6.26 image on AMD64 ii linux-image-2.6.30-bpo.1-amd64 2.6.30-6~bpo50+1 Linux 2.6.30 image on AMD64 ii linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64 2.6.32-29 Linux 2.6.32 for 64-bit PCs linux-image-2.6.26-2-amd64 works, linux-image-2.6.30-bpo.1-amd64 workse, linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64 hangs at "SCSI subsystem initialised". This may be related to http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=588509 , as I only get a few lines further. To rule out grub issues, here's a working menu entry: menuentry 'Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.30-bpo.1-amd64' --class debian --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os { insmod part_msdos insmod ext2 set root='(hd0,msdos1)' search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 3cb0cdf7-f55d-4a6b-a7b1-bee0d23e698e echo 'Loading Linux 2.6.30-bpo.1-amd64 ...' linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.30-bpo.1-amd64 root=UUID=3cb0cdf7-f55d-4a6b-a7b1-bee0d23e698e ro echo 'Loading initial ramdisk ...' initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.30-bpo.1-amd64 } and the non-working entry: menuentry 'Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64' --class debian --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os { insmod part_msdos insmod ext2 set root='(hd0,msdos1)' search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 3cb0cdf7-f55d-4a6b-a7b1-bee0d23e698e echo 'Loading Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 ...' linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-5-amd64 root=UUID=3cb0cdf7-f55d-4a6b-a7b1-bee0d23e698e ro echo 'Loading initial ramdisk ...' initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32-5-amd64 } I'm really not sure how to help debug this, but let me know and I will try whatever you like. -Robin -- Package-specific info: ** Kernel log: boot messages should be attached ** Model information
