Makes sense, although I was trying to get something from unstable to build, so that I could upload it to unstable (instead of unreleased) on debian-ports.org (which has strict rules in that regard, and is tightly coupled to Debian proper). Except for the gcc-4.3 workaround, the issues I found both apply to the experimental package too.
