handling.

version in shape. Please test the current 2.6.32 from unstable/testing
and tell us whether the problem persists. If so, we should report it
upstream to the kernel.org developers.
The 2.6.32 kernel is available from packages.debian.org and can
be installed in both Debian stable, testing and unstable
installations.

Moritz, apologies for late response; I am going to visit the affected
machine late this week and let you know.
The behaviour seems to be gone away with the squeeze kernel. I have
plugged/unplugged the usb cable several times from one connector socket
to another and I only get regular kernel messages. apcupsd continues to
run and detects/notifies cable plugging/unplugging
