Package: linux-image-2.6.26-1-486
Version: 2.6.26-8
Severity: normal

On a clean lenny install on my acer aspire 1350, the built-in realtek
wireless with pci id 10ec:8180 won't connect with linux driver. It does
scan lots of APs though.

Eg:

          Cell 03 - Address: 00:50:18:32:F6:6C
                    ESSID:"default"
                    Mode:Master
                    Channel:11
                    Frequency:2.462 GHz (Channel 11)
                    Signal level=-130 dBm
                    Encryption key:off
                    Bit Rates:1 Mb/s; 2 Mb/s; 5.5 Mb/s; 11 Mb/s; 6 Mb/s
                              9 Mb/s; 12 Mb/s; 18 Mb/s; 24 Mb/s; 36 Mb/s
                              48 Mb/s; 54 Mb/s
                    Extra:tsf=00000001cfec119a

Running these commands:

ifconfig wlan0 down
dhclient -r wlan0

iwconfig wlan0 ap 00:50:18:32:F6:6C essid default mode managed key open
ifconfig wlan0 192.168.123.161 up

gives me this in dmesg:

[ 7722.416251] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready

[ 7723.028057] wlan0: authentication with AP 00:50:18:32:f6:6c timed out

Immediately after the iwconfig configuration command is run, iwconfig
shows this status:

wmaster0 no wireless extensions.

wlan0 IEEE 802.11 ESSID:"default"
          Mode:Managed Frequency:2.462 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated

The iwconfig status report above does not change, even though scanning
works.

Other machines connect to the AP ok.

That's the end of my personal report input. Reportbug dumps follow...
