I just wanted to add that for my wifi, it actually connects to the access point, and about 3 to 4 seconds later (that's how many ping packets make it through) the connection stops doing anything.
I am looking through 2.6.32.2 to see which changes might affect it. The ones related to wifi power saving may be related but I also see some tcp and ip retransmit changes and such.
