I had the exact same issue. Now (maybe after a linux-image package upgrade, but I am not sure) it changed into corrupted image: -black squares on text forms -black horizontal ~16px long lines around and lots of these messages [drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... GPU hung render error detected, EIR: 0x00000000 i915: Waking up sleeping processes [drm:i915_wait_request] *ERROR* i915_wait_request returns -5 (awaiting 2 at 1) I have KMS enables, but I had the same corrupted output even without it. ps: if you think this is an unrelated issue, please let me know and I'll file another bug.
