Please report this upstream at <http://bugzilla.kernel.org> under the product 'Platform Specific/Hardware' and component 'x86-64'. Let us know the bug number so we can track it. You may get some useful information for the upstream developers to work on by booting with 'hpet=verbose' added to the kernel command line.
