Hello, I am building a recovery/diagnostic debian-live "live CD". It is a lenny build with kernel 2.6.26-2-486. I really want to use hdparm as in: #hdparm -N p${lbaend} --yes-i-know-what-i-am-doing /dev/hda but I get this error: The running kernel lacks CONFIG_IDE_TASK_IOCTL support for this device. READ_NATIVE_MAX_ADDRESS_EXT failed: Invalid argument
also (and I do not know if it is a connected issue) any hdd wipe commands slows the PC to a crawl. There a couple of "wipe" executables I use, the second link has a debian package etc: http://wipe.sourceforge.net/ http://lambda-diode.com/software/wipe There is some similar correspondence here: http://lists.debian.org/debian-kernel/2009/05/msg00397.html Is there any movement on this?
