I have to pull out the power plug to get it usable again.
My motherboard is a M2N-SLI Deluxe and the controller is a nvidia nforce 570
sli mcp built in gigabit mac with external Marvell PHY according to the manual.
At first I tried to use the other of the two onboard network controllers, but
also that one got disabled after rebooting.

The referenced patch by Herbert Xu was merged in 2.6.30, so I'm marking
this fixed. Please reopen if the problem persists.
