found 407217 2.6.26-15 thanks I believe I'm seeing this on an amd64 system with the following hardware:
06:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 02) Kernel driver in use: r8169 Kernel modules: r8169 That's the onboard NIC of an Asus P6T-SE. Symptoms: the system does not receive any avahi queries or responses unless I put the interface into promiscuous mode with tcpdump/tshark. 2: eth0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state UNKNOWN qlen 1000 link/ether 00:24:8c:71:4d:1d brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff I am currently testing version 2.6.29-5 and everything's working fine. So this may have been fixed in a later version of the kernel. -- Sam Morris <s...@robots.org.uk> -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-kernel-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
