Package: linux-image-2.6.26-1-amd64
Version: 2.6.26-13lenny2
Severity: important

Today updated the package to the updated version distributed. When rebooting
after the install, the system halted because no boot device couldn't be found.
Restarting with providing the parameter 'root=/dev/vg00/root' at the Lilo boot
prompt (e.g. using 'Linux root=/dev/vg00/root' as lilo boot command) allowed
the sytem to start up, afterwards running the lilo command as root allowed the
system to boot up without any boot parameters.

I had this same problem direcly after upgrading to lenny, as I remember then it
turned out that the major/minor node number that was used to identify the boot
partition was wrong, i.e. pointed to the wrong partition. I use software disk
mirroring with lvm2, the node numbers were from the wrong partition.

As running lilo immediately solved the problem (it has a
root=/dev/mapper/vg00-root device specified in /etc/lilo.conf) I assume that
the update process is missing this command.

Regards, Geert-Jan.
