Sorry, it would be too expensive to make a high quality upstream report. I suggest to close the current bug, 2.6.26 is outdated anyhow and there is a work-around. The only real and relevant message behind the problem is just: For some possibly broken USB hardware Win (2003) possibly does better error recovery.
