        I would consider it a bug not to provide a transition path to
 people who use kernel-package. Debian is supposed to provide
 _integration_, and packages are not supposed to live in a vacuum.

        As far as I know, there has been no coordination with the
 kernel-package author to put in code in kernel-package for lenny so
 that the change in initramfs-tools does not catch users by surpeise in
 squeeze.
