Package: kaweth usb ethernet driver
Version: all
I tried to install several linux distributions on some old laptops
(Toshiba Satellite 4070s). I tried to use an old 3Com 3c19250 USB
ethernet adapter for connectivity.
In all cases the USB driver is only occasionally recognized, works
intermittently then not at all, sometimes seems to cause lockup of the
system. The distributions included multiple debian based distribs,
including a debian minimal install.
On several occasions I could download for a while, then downloads would
simply stop, sometimes I would see screens of errors, but in all cases
the only error I can see for long enough to write down is
drivers/usb/net/kaweth.c: Failed to set Rx mode: -16
In general the error appears as downloads stalling, stopping, etc.
The bug has been reported on the kaweth page on sourceforge as long ago
as 2003. I used this very same USB adapter on Linux with no problem as
long ago as 1999.
