Create file /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi-fix with following content: options cfg80211 ieee80211_regdom=EU This fixes the problem on my laptop. But obviously this should not be the solution to this problem. Either Debian installer should create such a file, or some other automated solution shall detect IWL WiFi card and create this workaround.
