I'm having simular problems.
I've tried booting with parameters like:
video:intelfb:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
But it never seems to be loading the intelfb module.
When I modprobe it, I always get this:

And it's not creating a /dev/fb0 at that time.
The "Video mode must be programmed at boot time" also doesn't seem
to match the documentation or the rest of this bug report.
I'm trying this with a 2.6.23/24 kernel.
