I experience problems after an apt-get dist-upgrade of my hppa machine with the initramfs-tools package, and I did not find anything in the BTS concerning this problem. I had a look in the /var/lib/dpkg/info/initramfs-tools.postinst file, and I excecuted the "update-initramfs -u" by hand, and that gave no error... Let me know if you require further information.
