When the configure_networking function from /scripts/functions is called outside of the "init" and/or "nfs" scripts, it does not currently work. The configure_networking function expects the "IPOPTS" and "DEVICE" variables to be set in the, but these variables are never exported. It would be good if either these variables would be exported, or configure_networking would verify whether they are actually set before using them, and doing something sane if not.
