Package: linux-image-2.6.22-2-686 Version: 2.6.22-4 Severity: normal
When the device is plugged in the zd1211rw driver loads automatically without errors in dmesg or /var/log/messages and I can see details of the wireless router using iwconfig and iwlist scan. However attempts to ping the router fail with "No route to host". Ifconfig output indicates frame errors receiving packets and some errors sending packets. Adapter works fine from WinXp box to same wireless router, so hardware should be ok. On plugging the USB wireless adapter dmesg: usb 5-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 7 usb 5-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice usb 5-1: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 7 zd1211rw 5-1:1.0: firmware version 4725 zd1211rw 5-1:1.0: zd1211b chip 050d:705c v4810 high 00-17-3f AL2230_RF pa0 g--NS zd1211rw 5-1:1.0: eth1 usbcore: registered new interface driver zd1211rw udev: renamed network interface eth1 to eth3 After ifup eth3 /var/log/messages: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth3: link is not ready Tried ifconfig first: ifdown eth3 ifconfig eth3 up Sep 15 22:17:30 dk kernel: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth3: link is not ready ifup eth3 Sep 15 22:17:54 dk kernel: SoftMAC: Open Authentication completed with 00:17:3f:a9:ef:2f Sep 15 22:17:54 dk kernel: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth3: link becomes ready iwconfig: eth3 IEEE 802.11b/g ESSID:"foinnse" Nickname:"zd1211" Mode:Auto Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point: 00:17:3F:A9:EF:2F Bit Rate=24 Mb/s Encryption key:off Link Quality=99/100 Signal level=73/100 Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 iwlist scan: eth3 Scan completed : Cell 01 - Address: 00:17:3F:A9:EF:2F ESSID:"foinnse" Protocol:IEEE 802.11bg Mode:Master Channel:1 Frequency:2.412 GHz (Channel 1) Encryption key:off Bit Rates:1 Mb/s; 2 Mb/s; 5.5 Mb/s; 9 Mb/s; 11 Mb/s 6 Mb/s; 12 Mb/s; 18 Mb/s; 24 Mb/s; 36 Mb/s 48 Mb/s; 54 Mb/s Quality=100/100 Signal level=5/100 Extra: Last beacon: 12ms ago eth3 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:17:3F:B0:8B:00 inet addr:192.168.2.5 Bcast:192.168.2.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::217:3fff:feb0:8b00/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:36 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:36 TX packets:52 errors:6 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:2517 (2.4 KiB) ping 192.168.2.1 (wireless router): PING wr.dks.ie (192.168.2.1) 56(84) bytes of data. >From dkw.dks.ie (192.168.2.5) icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Unreachable >From dkw.dks.ie (192.168.2.5) icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Unreachable >From dkw.dks.ie (192.168.2.5) icmp_seq=5 Destination Host Unreachable >From dkw.dks.ie (192.168.2.5) icmp_seq=6 Destination Host Unreachable >From dkw.dks.ie (192.168.2.5) icmp_seq=9 Destination Host Unreachable >From dkw.dks.ie (192.168.2.5) icmp_seq=10 Destination Host Unreachable -- Package-specific info: -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.21-2-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages linux-image-2.6.22-2-686 depends on: ii initramfs-tools [linux-initr 0.90a tools for generating an initramfs ii module-init-tools 3.3-pre11-4 tools for managing Linux kernel mo Versions of packages linux-image-2.6.22-2-686 recommends: ii libc6-i686 2.6.1-1+b1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries [i -- debconf information excluded -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
