Hi, applying 179c85ea53bef807621f335767e41e23f86f01df at least allowed me to run aptitude again (without ending with a completely hanging system), although I'm still using the libc6 from Etch. So either this bug is worse on Ultrasparc III cpus (what I assume), or this is just a different bug with similar results.
Due to lack of time we didn't manage to test this on machines which are affected by the bug reported here, we'll do so tomorrow.
