Package: linux-image-2.6.18-4-amd64
Version: 2.6.18.dfsg.1-12
Severity: important

This is perhaps related to bug 369599
The server freezes completely, running ssh session freezes (no more IO), trying
to
connect with a new ssh hangs too ( slogin servername -> nothing happens,
no password prompt, no error message), but it still answers to ping and
nmap shows the ssh port open. This happened 3 times in 1 week, 2 times
during heavy data upload via rsync/ssh, once when it was rather idle. At
one of the "rsync times", I found the following syslog entries:

Apr 26 15:09:53 raid7 syslogd 1.4.1#18: restart.

The other 2 times, logging just stopped completety. After a hard reset,
everything's back to normal. I have 3 other identical servers where
nothing happened (up to now). Could this possibly be a hardware problem?
The server is just 2 months old, has a 3TB SATA RAID 5 on a 3ware 9550SX
controller.
Any suggestions for testing?

It finally turned out that this "bug" was due to bad hardware. Exchange
of the memory solved the problem. Sorry! Please close the bug.

# inconcevable. #
