Hello While digging the issue, I've found kernel bug 5894 [1] which looks close to the problem I found.
Following the advice, I've changed the way my usb disks are plugged. Before they were on 2 adjacents plugs which are on the same usb bus. Now they are on 2 differents set of plugs and the file move no longer hang. Note that this is a workaround and not a proper bug fix. I'll follow up on bug 5894 to see what kernel folks think about this issue.
