The situation on a dual Athlon 64 X2 4200+ system running with etch amd64 is the same as on the xeon machine running with etch amd64:
Vanilla kernel: real 0m42.152s user 0m39.838s sys 0m2.308s Xen kernel, dom0: real 0m53.857s user 0m43.271s sys 0m10.561s As before, the sys time is relatively high. So, the problem depends not on the cpu (athlon64 or xeon with 64 bit), but on the xen kernel or the xen hypervisor for the amd64 bit platform. The only way around which I see at the moment is to install xen from scratch - but the debian package are very convenient...
