Nothing in the changelogs stands out, but I'd guess that the fix was either an upstream change to use /usr/src/linux-headers-version-abi-flavour/include/config/kernel.release or a local change to ensure it contained version-abi-flavour instead of version-abi. The fact that there's nothing obvious in the Debian changelog suggests an upstream change fixed this one out from under us...
