I observe that nor /dev/psaux, nor /dev/input/mice exist either. After rebooting and/or running update-initramfs problem still remains :-¿? I have a USB logitech cordless mouse that had no problems with 2.6.15. When rebooting with kernel 2.6.15 all of these devices were properly created. So now, I'm using kernel 2.6.15 as shipped by Debian Etch (linux-image-2.6.15-1-686 package). This same bug was reported against linux-image-2.6.16-2-686-smp (bug #379647) and closed by a developer (he said that upgrading udev solved the problem). OK, so now I have updated my etch and... it didn't work. In fact, I have tried again with 2.6.16 and the problem remains, so I think that bug #379647 must be re-opened.
