i just wanted to followup to confirm Jan Wagner's workaround. When i blacklist 8250_pnp, i can boot successfully with 2.6.17-2-686.
i blacklisted 8250_pnp in two spots: /etc/hotplug/blacklist.d/8250_pnp, and also in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist (i'm running backported udev and not hotplug on this system, so i wasn't certain that the hotplug blacklist would have an effect). I'm not sure what i lose by having 8250_pnp blacklisted, though, since this appears to be newly modular as of 2.6.17. Do i lose the ability to use non-console serial ports? I've tried to dig around on lkml, but haven't come up with any clear explanations of this module. Any pointers for where to find the details? --dkg -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
