difficult to say. creating mdadm.conf (see /usr/share/mdadm/mkconf) and running `mdadm -Asayes --run` should do. If it doesn't do what mdrun used to do, and even better, I am in trouble. But so far, I've had no indication that it doesn't work the way I expect it. Anyway, mdrun will be in etch, albeit deprecated. I'll only remove it after etch if everything goes well.
