Package: kernel-image-2.6-686-smp Severity: normal I am trying to upgrade the kernel on an older Compaq DL360 server. When I upgraded the kernel to 2.6.16, the system would no longer boot. The last message on console is: Begin: Waiting for root file system After this times out, I get dropped into a shell in the initrd.
The errors relating to the cpqarray module are as follows: cpqarray: Finding drives on ida0 cpqarray: ida0: idaSendPciCmd Timeout out, No command list address returned! cpqarray: error sending ID Controller Though I have not yet tested this, I found at http://www.mcnabbs.org/andrew/linux/proliant/ a possible fix that requires cpqarray to be built into the kernel instead of as a module. I am in the process of rebuilding the kernel and will report on the success of this fix.
