If the innitramfs must be updated for correct functioning of
the machine, then by all means we should do so. However, we should
not try to sneak in such changes behind the installers back; ideally,
there should be a debconf question asked (perhaps in preinst) which
tells the user what is to happen, and allows the user to back out of
installation if changing the booting mechanism is too risky.
It would have allowed me to mount /boot rw, for example.
