Imagine the tool "make" failing to compile some software, and you were told that Debian make was optimized for official Debian sourcecode, so the "solution" is to only use tarballs distributed through Debian. Or the mysql daemon crashing if fed specific SQL commands, and Debian just made sure to not use those commands in official software.
