Package: linux-source-2.6.15 Version: 2.6.15-3 Severity: normal Hello.
I've always used CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IDE_SATA (support of older SATA controller as /dev/hd*) with 2.6 kernel, because CONFIG_SCSI_ATA_PIIX (/dev/sd* for SATA) is too much slower with my ICH5 SATA controller (mother board is an Intel D865PERL[K]); even standard Debian kernel as linux-image-2.6.15-1-686-smp (and older) is/was slow. With kernel 2.6.15 CONFIG_SCSI_ATA_PIIX is at the same time slower but I can't use CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IDE_SATA because I get very often: irq 169: nobody cared (try booting with the "irqpoll" option) [__report_bad_irq+36/127] __report_bad_irq+0x24/0x7f [note_interrupt+98/178] note_interrupt+0x62/0xb2 [__do_IRQ+221/231] __do_IRQ+0xdd/0xe7 [do_IRQ+48/90] do_IRQ+0x30/0x5a [common_interrupt+26/32] common_interrupt+0x1a/0x20 [default_idle+0/85] default_idle+0x0/0x55 [default_idle+44/85] default_idle+0x2c/0x55 [cpu_idle+90/119] cpu_idle+0x5a/0x77 [start_kernel+356/377] start_kernel+0x164/0x179 [unknown_bootoption+0/438] unknown_bootoption+0x0/0x1b6 handlers: [ide_intr+0/353] (ide_intr+0x0/0x161) [ide_intr+0/353] (ide_intr+0x0/0x161) [pg0+944359708/1069540352] (usb_hcd_irq+0x0/0x52 [usbcore]) [pg0+945390008/1069540352] (e1000_intr+0x0/0x146 [e1000]) Disabling IRQ #169 hde: lost interrupt and systems is blocked for some seconds during this error. "irqpool" doesn't solve that problem (kernel hangs). Any suggestion (to solve "nobody cared" problem or - maybe better - to use my controller in a "standard fast mode" with CONFIG_SCSI_ATA_PIIX)?
