Package: kernel-image-2.6.8-2-386
Version: 2.6.8-16sarge1

The current (19 Dec 2005) Debian Sarge Kernel 2.6 image
fails on my laptop in two ways:

1. The USB ports are apparently dead; USB sticks do not blink
   and are not detected/mounted/reported etc.
   - lsusb shows three internal hubs and a 'storage device'
(card reader) as immediately after booting.
The externally attached USB sticks or hubs are not
     recognized, however.
   - The USB controllers are:
0000:00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB/DBL/DBM
       (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) USB UHCI Controller #n (rev 02)
     where n is 1, 2, and 3.

2. Xine breaks when trying to output sound or access the
alsa libraries (reported as bug 343899 for Xine).

The 686 version breaks the same way.

Kernels 2.4.27-6 and 2.6.12 (from testing) work fine
with both problem areas.

Both problems have nothing to do with software suspend,
since I don't ever suspend and they occur immediately after
booting.
